Learning that actually sticks

One tiny lesson at a time. Lingo turns a language into a game you don't want to put down.

Tap words into place

Every lesson is built around the word-tile challenge โ€” arrange the tiles to build the sentence. Tiles hop into place with a satisfying pop, and you get instant feedback the moment you check. It's the fastest way to feel a language click.

Keep your streak alive

Practice every day and your streak grows. Miss a day and, wellโ€ฆ Pip will have feelings about it. Streak freezes, milestones, and gentle (okay, persistent) reminders keep the habit going long after motivation fades.

Compete in weekly leagues

Every lesson earns XP, and XP climbs the leaderboard. You're placed in a league of 30 โ€” finish in the promotion zone to move up through ten tiers, from Bronze all the way to Diamond. It's the reason "just one more lesson" becomes five.

Questions, answered

Is Lingo really free?

Yes โ€” the entire Spanish course is free. You can learn every lesson without paying a cent. Super Lingo is an optional upgrade that removes ads and gives you unlimited hearts, but it's never required to learn.

What are hearts?

Hearts are how Lingo keeps mistakes meaningful. You start each session with five. Lose one for each wrong answer; they refill over time, or instantly with Super. Run out and you'll practice old material to earn them back.

How do the weekly leagues work?

Do a lesson and you're placed in a league of 30 learners. The XP you earn all week ranks you against them. Finish in the promotion zone and you move up a tier on Monday; finish in the demotion zone and you drop. Ten tiers, from Bronze to Diamond.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes โ€” Lingo ships an Expo-built companion app for iOS and Android with the same course, native haptics, and reminders from Pip. See the pricing page and the repo's SHIP.md for install steps.

Wait โ€” is this Duolingo?

No. Lingo is an independent reference venture built by cshell in the Duolingo archetype โ€” a faithful, from-scratch clone of the mechanics (streaks, hearts, leagues, the word-tile lesson). It's not affiliated with Duolingo, and Pip is his own owl.
